These pages illustrate many of the simple things you can do with frames & Javascript.

Frames are Netscape's extension to HTML that allows one or more independently scrollable windows within a single page, each of which can be assigned separate URLs. Newlogic.com provides a useful site for help with frames; Charlton Rose also offers a useful frames tutorial.

JavaScript, developed by Netscape Communications Corp., is based on 'Java', the Object Oriented Programming language developed by Sun Microsystems. Javascript is a scripting language, embedded directly in the text of HTML documents, that allows dynamic activity within a web page. JavaScript is responsible for the buttons, forms, and alert messages interspersed throughout these pages.

JavaScript 411 provides Frequently Asked Questions about JavaScript and points out the many differences between Java and Javascript. This press release gives further explanation of the Javascript tool.
